Water Vapour Control Layers - EN 13970 & EN 13984
Systems of assessment and verification of constancy of performance (AVCP) are determined according to the table below given in EN 13970 and EN 13984 standards.

* Products/materials for which a clearly identifiable stage in the production process results in an improvement of the reaction to fire classification (e.g. an addition of fire retardants or a limiting of organic materials) |
In general, the systems of assessment and verification of constancy of performance (AVCP) of waterproofing sheets to be used as a vapour control layer is defined as system 3. On the other hand; Only fire-related properties of vapour control layers with reaction to fire class F are evaluated within system 4. For products with reaction to fire class A1-E, reaction to fire under the influence of external fire and reaction to fire tests must be carried out by notified laboratories, while no fire test is required for class F products. Accordingly, the duties of the producers within the scope of system 3 are determined with the table given below in the EN 13970 and EN 13984 standards covering the relevant product groups.
Tasks |
Content of the task |
|
Tasks under the responsibility of the manufacturer |
Factory product control (FPC) |
Parameters related to all relevant characteristics of ZA.1. |
Initial type testing by the manufacturer |
All relevant characteristics of Table ZA.1 except reaction to fire, watertightness and water vapour permeability |
|
Initial type testing by a notified test laboratory |
Reaction to fire (A1, A2, B, C)**, D, E , watertightness and water vapour permeability |
Tests Required to be Performed by Notified Laboratories: For these products included in System 3, the control activities of the notified test laboratory, under the responsibility of the producer, are limited to watertightness, water vapor permeability and reaction to fire. From this point of view, the tests that must be performed by the notified laboratory are limited to the following features. The manufacturer is responsible for the application of other tests given in the ZA.1 table. Standards and test methods for the release of dangerous substances are not yet available.
