Flexible Sheets for Damp Proof Courses for Buildings- EN 14967& EN 14909
Systems of assessment and verification of constancy of performance (AVCP) to be applied to waterproofing sheets used for damp proofing are determined according to the table below in accordance with the definitions given in EN 14967 for bitumen-based products and EN 14909 for plastic/rubber-based products.

* Products/materials for which a clearly identifiable stage in the production process results in an improvement of the reaction to fire classification (e.g. an addition of fire retardants or a limiting of organic materials). |
When the footnote is examined in the table above where systems of assessment and verification of constancy of performance (AVCP) are determined; It turns out that the systems of assessment and verification of constancy of performance (AVCP) of damp proof courses is system 1 or 3. Reaction to fire class tests for A1-E class waterproofing sheets must be carried out by notified bodies. On the other hand, no fire test is required for class F products. The duties of manufacturers and notified bodies in accordance with EN 14909 and EN 14967 standards for products evaluated as system 1 due to their reaction to fire class A1, A2, B and C are determined in the table below.

Initial type testing |
(A1, A2, B, C)* |
Initial Inspection of factory and FPC |
Parameters related to all characteristics of Table ZA.1, relevant for the intended use, in particular: reaction to fire |
|
Continuous surveillance, assessment and approval of FPC |
Parameters related to all characteristics of Table ZA.1, relevant for the intended use, in particular: reaction to fire |
Duties within the scope of system 1 for EN 14967 & EN 14909
For initial type tests, the activities of the notified test laboratory for these products included in system 1 are limited to verifying the waterproofing property. For such products, reaction to fire tests may need to be performed by an notified test laboratory under the responsibility of the certification body. The manufacturer is responsible for the application of the tests for the other features given in the ZA.1 table.
The duties of producers and notified bodies in accordance with EN 14909 and EN 14967 standards for products with reaction to fire class D or E and therefore evaluated as system 3 are determined in the table given below.

Tests Required to be Performed by Notified Laboratories: For initial type tests, the certification body's control activities for products included in system 3 are limited to verification of waterproofing and reaction to fire classification. From this point of view, the tests that must be performed by the notified laboratory are limited to the following features. The manufacturer is responsible for the application of other tests given in the ZA.1 table.
Watertightness (Basic Requirements 3: Hygiene, health and the environment)
EN 1928: Flexible sheets for waterproofing determination of watertightness
Behaviour in the case of Fire (Basic Requirements 2: Safety in case of fire)
EN ISO 11925-2: Reaction to fire tests - Ignitability of products subjected to direct impingement of flame - Part 2: Single-flame source test
EN 13501-1: Fire classification of construction products and building elements - Part 1: Classification using data from reaction to fire tests
